Introducing the brand new 2024 MG 3.
Officially unveiled at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show in February 2024, the latest generation of the MG 3 is set to go on sale in Spring 2024, and here at Luscombe MG, we're now accepting pre-orders for the stylish new hatchback.
Featuring a completely revamped interior which is home to exquisite diamond-stitched upholstery, prominent dual infotainment and instrument panel displays, and stylish rotary gear selector, there's a real premium feel to the 2024 MG 3.
The latest iteration of MG's hatchback has also undergone some stylish changes on the exterior too. With sharp, sporty headlights, a prominent front end, and a lack of a traditional grille, the MG 3 is sure to look the part.
Dynamic & Engaging Driving Experience
With its compact size and nimble configuration, the MG 3 delivers a refined driving experience while staying true to MG's "fun-to-drive" philosophy. Enhanced by the integration of new ultra-high stiffness components in the chassis, coupled with weight-reducing suspension elements, it offers both athletic handling and a comfortable ride.
Benefiting from a meticulously balanced setup that harmonizes comfort and dynamism, the all-new MG3 leverages its hybrid powertrain's capability to operate on electric power for short durations. This not only enhances efficiency but also elevates refinement and noise suppression to new levels. Engineers have meticulously addressed various aspects including engine and suspension mounts, sound-absorbing materials, and transmission design, resulting in reduced noise, vibration, and harshness levels, thereby delivering a premium driving experience.
Refined & Upgraded Powertrain
The petrol-only powertrain in the previous models has also been replaced, with MG's new Hybrid+ system now taking centre stage. This will see a 1.5-litre petrol combustion engine supported by an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack which offers an efficient self-charging hybrid solution. The Hybrid+ powertrain makes its debut with the new MG 3 and comprises five core components: engine, transmission, battery, electric motor, and generator.
While prioritizing efficiency, with a claim it achieves up to 64mpg, this electrified technology also boasts impressive performance capabilities. The MG3 equipped with the Hybrid+ powertrain emerges as the fastest accelerating hybrid supermini, achieving a remarkable 0-100km/h (0-62mph) sprint time of 8.0 seconds. Accelerating from 80-120km/h (50-75mph) is equally impressive, taking just 5.0 seconds.
Generating a combined output of 143kW, the MG3 Hybrid+ achieves fuel economy figures of 4.4l/100km (64mpg) and emits 100g/km CO2*. This efficiency is further enhanced by a 1.83kWh battery, enabling a substantial electric-only driving range.
The MG 3 offers several drive modes, automatically selected by the Hybrid+ system:
- EV Mode: Operates on electric power until the charge is depleted.
- Series Mode: The engine powers the generator, which in turn drives the electric motor.
- Series and Charge Mode: Utilizes series driving while also replenishing the battery during low-load conditions.
- Drive and Charge Mode: The engine propels the wheels while simultaneously charging the battery via the generator.
- Parallel Mode: Both the engine and electric motor contribute to powering the wheels.
The four-cylinder 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine delivers 75kW (102 PS) with an impressive thermal efficiency of 41%. Coupled with the 100kW (136 PS) electric motor, the Hybrid+ system ensures ample power throughout the rev range.
Thanks to the more potent electric motor, the MG 3 can handle much of the high-load driving under electric power, seamlessly transitioning to petrol power at higher speeds. The engine is paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, striking a balance between efficiency and driving pleasure, delivering responsive acceleration and smooth shifting.
Drivers can personalize the MG3's responsiveness with three driving modes – Eco, Standard, and Sport. Eco mode prioritizes fuel economy with gentle throttle response, while Standard offers a balanced blend of economy and performance. Sport mode enhances responsiveness, maximizing the combined power output and delivering top-tier performance.
All-new Specifications
The all-new MG3 debuts in three distinct specifications: Standard, Comfort, and Luxury. Each one of these is poised to rival other offerings in the competitive supermini market with a comprehensive array of standard technology and features.
A standout feature captivating customers is the twin-screen cockpit, comprising of a 7-inch digital instrument display and a 10.25-inch central infotainment system. Engineered by MG to deliver enhanced graphics and responsiveness, these floating screens are complemented by a set of piano-key switches on the center console, ensuring optimal safety and convenience while driving.
Standard features include satellite navigation and seamless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. MG iSMART elevates connectivity, offering features typically associated with premium models to MG3 customers.
Additional equipment highlights encompass air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, four USB ports, rear parking sensors, and a camera. Higher trim levels introduce luxurious touches such as leather-style upholstery, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a 360-degree camera.
Safety is paramount with the inclusion of the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Enhanced safety features are delivered through MG Pilot technology, featuring Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Traffic Jam Assist, providing peace of mind for drivers and passengers alike.
