Robin's Diary

Person with hands folded

We will have to learn to be patient….

Over the years we have become used to and enjoyed wanting something today and getting it tomorrow, or even same day in some cases.  The internet has enabled massive changes, no hunting around shops or suppliers, just a quick search and you can find anything you want and have it pretty much instantly.

But, I think we are going to have to get used to waiting again.

A by-product of Covid, not helped by ships getting stuck, is a worldwide shortage of components and finished items.  This is compounded by demand in many industries, which increased as a result of us all having to stay at home.  Hence I foresee some major changes in how we have become accustomed to wanting it now and having it tomorrow - which in the past was overcome by instant credit.

Even the best computers and communication systems in the world can’t make anything -they require raw materials, factories, containers and ships - and they are either in the wrong place, or there aren’t enough, or they have suffered delays due to good old human beings staying safe and looking after themselves and their families rather than chasing the dollar.

So, just when we thought the world was getting back to normal, whilst it's generally much safer, especially in the UK, we will all have to be more patient for the rest of 2021.

“Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.” Joyce Meyer
