Robin's Diary

Roadsign with After Covid for robin's diary

Adapt and survive...

When David Attenborough tells us about the evolution of animals it takes 1,000s of years, but even at a very slow pace, they have adapted to changes and found a way to survive.

At the moment we are going through a massive evolution, but also the quickest one in history. The industrial revolution, even the digital revolution, took time - but whatever we call the ‘Covid revolution’ it has taken less than a year. The changes we have made this year, either personally or in business, will no doubt change the way we live forever. Who would have predicted a year ago that all cars sold in the UK were bought without a test drive, or even without seeing the car in the flesh? Amazon must be rubbing their hands together! Will we return to shopping centres, even restaurants? How they have evolved, sending out ready-to-cook meals, so you can enjoy something special at home, and cook it yourself. When we come out of restrictions, will we all rush back to the pub? Some will, but how many will realise how much money they spent with little to show for it, and after such a long change of lifestyle, have just got out of the habit.

It will be very interesting to observe how we evolve, as most of our decisions are based on habit, and now our habits have changed.

“Change and growth is so painful. But it's so necessary for us to evolve.” Sarah McLachlan
