Happy New Year

Reflections on a Unique Year!

Well what a year, it will go down in history and be remembered by all, but fortunately, due to amazing resilience, we have some great memories to offset all the bad news.

It’s easy to forget the good news in the circumstances, but it’s more important than ever this year to find the positive, so that’s what I’m going to do.

Starting in February we were awarded Best Franchised Dealer by Automotive Management. In June we added MG to our portfolio of franchises, and with the news on EV cars from 2030 this is already proving to be a massive success! In the Summer we backed up our 2018 Auto Trader Retailer of the Year award by winning again for 2020, a massive win once but amazing to win it again! As we headed towards the year-end, we picked up Highly Commended from the Motor Ombudsman awards, and then finished the year off with the Best Dealership Website award from Motor Trader - perfect when so much car shopping is now done online, and showing that even a small family dealership can compete with the big boys! We might not be on TV, but our website is better than those who are!! Finally, in early December we won Suzuki Regional Dealer of the Year, which by our standards was a slip, having been National Suzuki Dealer of the Year 4 times in 10 years, but still we are the best in the North so can’t complain about that!!

Now we are doing our bit for the economy, by recruiting more staff to cope with the increased business, proving it’s not just a trophy for the mantelpiece, but doing a great job is appreciated by our lifeblood, customers!

So, on reflection, whilst I would give up all the awards to rid us of Covid, life’s not like that, but it’s certainly testament to the team, and our suppliers, and of course our customers, without whom nothing would be possible! Even in a bad year, we will all find something good to look back on, and as we personally can’t cure Covid, we can find something good to focus on!

Let’s hope 2021 is better for everyone, and the worst bits of 2020 are behind us.
